Sign Language

"Sign Language" takes a closer look at shop hoardings and sign boards around Yelahanka as a local form of advertising. Shop signage in Yelahanka is quite diverse, mirroring the diversity in businesses, scale and location. The author views shop signage as a business decision made by each shop’s proprietor, in keeping with their needs and aspirations and explores questions such as - does shop signage matter? Would a hoarding be different if the shop was on the main road or nestled away in a side street? How would signage be affected by a competitor setting up shop right next door? Join the author on a walk around Yelahanka’s street markets, exploring signs old and new, flashy and plain, to see if a pattern emerges.

Dualist Enquiry

Everything in the world can be broadly classified into black and white. Dualist Enquiry looks at Yelahanka through the lens of contrasts, and in doing so creates a dialogue between two extremes. The author looks at dualism in terms of patterns seen among people, lifestyles, structures and environments, and draws parallels between them to show the interconnectedness and interdependence of everything around us.
